Michelle Aurelio (Kitchen Manager)

Michelle joined the D Acres family in May 2017, assuming the role of cook and on-site herbalist. Since completing her apprenticeship in clinical herbalism in 2012, Michelle has been wearing a variety of hats in order to gain experiential knowledge in a wide range of fields. She worked for several seasons as a research assistant and IPM Scout for UNH Cooperative Extension studying soil fertility in high tunnel tomato production, companion plants for predatory insect habitats, as well as monitoring pest-insect populations using both traditional and innovative methods. She also assisted in the operation of an award-winning inn in the White Mountains for over two years before moving to the Baker River Valley. These experiences have fostered an appreciation for our locale, from the flora and fauna to the individuals who make up our communities.

Native to the White Mountains, Michelle is glad to have found an organization in-line with her convictions for which she can use her skills to benefit the greater community. Passionate about community development and sustainability, homesteading, food systems, and education, she strives to apply her knowledge and skills to benefit the community by providing healthy, foraged and farm-fresh meals, educational workshops and herb walks, and offering herbal services and advice on a sliding-scale basis.

You can usually find her on the farm, experimenting in the kitchen, tending the plant medicine in the gardens, or out on the trails exploring our vast recreational trail network with her daughter, Aster.
