D Acres is interested in supporting youth education for farm skills and nature-based educational programming. We have cooperated with many public, private and homeschool-based initiatives for over 20 years. At Canaan Elementary we have helped create nature trails, school gardens, a compost-in-the-classroom program, an adopt-a-chicken program, classroom lesson plans and farm-to-cafeteria meals. Currently, at Indian River School we are assisting with the Eco-club and developing campus-wide trails and farm programs.
We have worked with Russell Elementary and Plymouth Elementary with tours and classroom programs. We also provide tours and volunteer activities for at-risk youth, private high school and universities. Annually we host Harvard, Dartmouth, Plymouth State, MIT, Proctor Academy, Mt Prospect, Beckett, Holderness and Colby Sawyer students for tours, internships, and residential opportunities.
Our long term vision is to provide K-12 programming which empowers students with knowledge of where their food comes from.
