  • Come check out what’s new in 2020! We will be highlighting a different veggie each month in our menu.  We will demonstrate different ways of preparing and preserving these veggies for you to enjoy! Also new hours and more options to fit your needs!

Enjoy food and good company with Farmer Rich. January features Butternut Squash Soup & Bread with International Renowned Omelettes featuring ingredients such as Black trumpet mushrooms, cheese, and D Acres kraut, potatoes and eggs

Our menu changes weekly- Give us a call, visit the website or look at our facebook page to find out what we will be serving each week. It will always be large portions of farm fresh, local, seasonal offerings! (We can accomodate most dietary needs with advanced notice.) Open to the Public with Reservations. We request 24 hours advance notification, although feel free to call and check for space available last minute.

The Potato

Going Back to our Roots!

Much like January, we are looking to our root cellar to sustain us through these cold months of winter. 

The fruits of our labour are still bringing us rewards filling us with hearty meals and comfort food until fresh veggies are growing again!  

Our February menu will highlight the diversity of the potato….

Entree: Potato Chowder, Sourdough Bread, Sauteed Kale & Curried Sweet Potatoes

Salad: A Bed of Fresh Picked Microgreens, Served with  Shredded Beets, Carrots, Apples & Onions Garnished with a side of House Kraut &  Crispy Chickpeas!

 

Entree: Beef Stew ( Vegetarian option- Chickpeas Stew) Served with, Rice,  Sauteed Kale & Sweet Potato Rolls.  

 

Dessert: Gingerbread Cake with Spiced Pears

Appetizer: Deviled Eggs 

Specialty App. Potato Pancakes Served with Applesauce & Sour Cream.

 

Salad: A Bed of Fresh Picked Microgreens, Served with  Shredded Beets, Carrots, Apples & Onions Garnished with a side of House Kraut &  Crispy Chickpeas!

 

Entree: Ribs, Rice with Roasted Veggies, Baked Beans, Potato Salad & Bread. 

 

Dessert:  Chocolate Potato Cake

     


Mashed Potato Truffles

  1. Just 4 Ingredients! 

  • ½  Cup Cold Mashed Potatoes 

  • 1 Cup Dark Chocolate 

  • ½ Teaspoon Vanilla

  • ½ Cup Toppings: Your Choice!

  • Coconut Flakes

  • Chopped Nuts

  • Cocoa Powder

  1. Preparation: 

  2. Use premade mashed potatoes- Cooled.

  3. In a double boiler- melt the chocolate and mix in the vanilla.  Stirring often until totally melted. Stir in the mashed potatoes and keep mixing until thoroughly blended.  

  4. Chill mixture in fridge for about 30 minutes to firm it up. 

  5. Take 1 Tablespoon sized hunk of mixture and roll into a ball.  Have your topping of choice in a small bowl and roll the ball through it until covered.   Place on a baking sheet and chill until firm. 


 

Don’t limit yourself to the old Russet - There are many varieties of potatoes....  Different colors, flavors and textures to be explored! 

Vitelotte, Laura, Kerrs Pink, Jewel Yam, Hannah Sweet, Rose Finn, Red Thumb, Purple Majesty, All Blue, Yukon Gold…. The list goes on an on! And just like apples- they each have different qualities and subtle flavors that make them unique and splendid in a variety of dishes.
